4 Questions Leaders Need to Answer to Have Greater Impact

Is a ‘5’ really a mark of excellence? 💫

In traditional 360 evaluations, ratings range from 1 to 5. However, how do you know if 5 indicates excellence or overplaying a strength?

The effectiveness of leadership changes based on the situation and the people involved. Expectations shift whether you're interacting with your team, peers, or bosses, highlighting the need for versatile leadership approaches.

Your impact as a leader can be assessed by measuring your leadership versatility.

Relying on your strengths and those you lead is not enough to navigate change and lead yourself and others effectively and towards positive change.

You must be aware of when your strengths become weaknesses - through overuse.

Neither too little of hashtag#leadership behaviour nor too much of it is good ⚠️

Aristotle talked about the Golden Mean, the desirable middle between two extremes, one of excess and the other of deficiency.

Let’s discuss balance and how to develop and use the right amount of every leadership quality to induce positive change.

Here are 4 questions every leader needs to answer to have a true impact 💫

🔹 Am I asserting my authority, position, or power, or am I using it to show the way?

🔹 Am I showing empathy, or am I drifting towards becoming a yes-person?

🔹 Am I moving towards growth, or am I stretching too far?

🔹 Am I pushing for excellence and attention to detail, or am I micro-managing?

As leaders, we tend to favour and rely on one dimension rather than flexing our approach depending on the situation.

One leader may be too direct, and the other may be soft to the extent that critical conversations are avoided.

Versatile leaders need to skillfully switch between different or even contrasting behaviours.

It’s a comprehensive 360-degree feedback tool that helps you determine your strengths and find the right balance so you can have a greater impact.

The LVI Model assesses 4 distinct areas of leadership (forceful, enabling, strategic, and operational) using a scale from -3 to +3 (where 0 is the optimal).

✔️ Versatile leaders have more engaged employees and higher-performing teams, are more effective, and are better at anticipating and responding to change.

If that sounds interesting, let’s talk!

I’ve been using the LVI Model with leaders for many years now.

This is not like any other 360 assessment.

LVI is your personal map, which will show you exactly where you stand so you can intentionally build up your versatility muscles and learn when to be direct and when to enable.
